La Quinta Adobe

ABOUT

La Quinta is a resort city in the Palm Springs region’s Coachella Valley,  between Indian Wells and Indio.

La Quinta was first established in the early 18th century as a convenient stop between Mexico and the developing San Gabriel Missions of Los Angeles.    “La Quinta” is roughly translated as “Fifth Hacienda” because it was the fifth stop on the route to the missions.

In 1927, Walter Morgan established the La Quinta Resort at the northern section of “Marshall Cove”, as a secluded hideaway for Hollywood celebrities and socialites.

Now,  La Quinta is considered one of the nation’s leading golf and spa destinations. It has more than twenty golf courses in the area,  including the world-famous PGA West, which has hosted prestigious tournaments such as The Skins Game, Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, The Grand Slam of Golf, The Legends of Golf, as well as the PGA Tour Qualifying School.

Vacationing in La Quinta and the Cove permits you access to recreational areas, including several city parks, mountain trails, the Fred Wolff Bear Creek Nature Preserve, museums, the library, SilverRock — the Arnold Palmer designed municipal golf course, and more.

La Quinta is minutes from world class golf courses, resorts, spas, fine dining, spectator sports, hiking, nature trails, museums, concert halls, and family fun, including tours, movie theaters, and shopping districts.
